Last week my team, the dandelions, spent our last day at our carepoint. It was super bittersweet being with the kids and staff one last time, but the day was so memorable! We started the day with a late start our transportation was delayed two hours in the morning so I had some extra quiet time, and then got to go through a Bible study with some of my friends. We got picked up around 10:30 and we’re at our carepoint around 11. Perfect timing for us to eat lunch and then be outside for the preschoolers’ recess. We got to play and love on them for so long. We learned the cutest dance circle game from them which brought so much laughter. Once it was around 1pm the older kids from primary and secondary school started walking into the care point. There is a boy named Langalehle who is 15 who has a harder time understanding English than other kids, so I really focus on translating stuff to him so he understands. This particular day I was explaining to him John 3:16 and telling him about how powerful and strong God was. He asked me to pray for him and I did it was so sweet. After that our coordinators that I LOVE came and joined us. My favorite is the regional coordinator, we call her Slim Dee. We got to talk with them and they gave me and the other girls our Swazi names. A Swazi name is a name the people of Eswatini give visitors to include them in their culture. The name they gave me was “Swazi” which means of the people of Eswatini. After this Slim Dee reminded us of one of our ideas that we wanted to paint the girls toenails at the care point. We were hoping to do this and give remind them of truths about their worth throughout that time. So we started by painting her toes and continued on to any of the girls preschool-high school that wanted their toes painted. (They’re not allowed to have their finger nails painted for school). I got the opportunity to paint the GoGo’s toes (grandma in Eswatzi, they cook for the care points). GoGo’s spend the day on their feet keeping a fire, cooking, and cleaning so us painting their toes was super special for both us and them. After hers I continued painting the kids toes. While painting one of the older girls she complimented my rainbow bracelet that I made, and through that I got to tell her about Noah’s Ark and all about God’s covenant to us through the rainbow. We had a bit more transportation issues again in the afternoon so we stayed much later than usual. So late that the kids all left and walked home. We started walking towards our home until our bus finally came. When we got home we got to spend the rest of the night celebrating my beautiful friend Jill’s 20th birthday by eating pasta, cake, and having a pool party. We ended that night with an hour or two of worship. It was overall one of my favorite days of the whole month! So glad I got to experience that wonderful care point in Manzini one last day, and spend the night dancing and laughing with my amazing squad.
